What is the best way to contact Schooled by Paper®?
What is paper-leather?
This blog post sets out to explain the answer.
Will kraft paper tear easily?
No it won’t. It’s incredibly strong and you may just have to see this for yourself before believing it. The reason lies in the chemical process used during the manufacture of kraft paper-leather.
Will kraft paper fall apart if it gets wet?
Even when wet, kraft paper remains tear-resistant.
How protected will a bag’s contents be if it gets wet?
The 2018-19 DrawBag® line of backpacks also include a non-toxic and biodegradable ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) mid-layer for water-resistance between the paper outer and the fabric interior to help protect the contents within.
2020 versions onward utilize an added organic water-resistant treatment to the paper to cut down on materials and processes. Some later backpacks also include a water-resistant treatment to the cotton interior.
The LunchKraft® lunchbox is internally waterproofed through its recycled PET MET insulation.
Check out the unique specifications on each product for more detail.
Can Schooled by Paper products be washed?
Yes they can be. Although we’ve run different products through a washing machine, we would recommend hand washing and drip drying to protect hardware such as zippers and snaps. These potentially could be damaged by bouncing against the sides of a machine during its cycle.
Water-resistant treatments may lose their efficacy over time with many washes.
Will inks or paints wash out or bleed?
Our acrylic paint markers and permanent markers will not wash out or bleed unless very specific solvents are used on them (Did you know that permanent marker ink can sometimes be removed from paper with nail polish remover, hairspray, or toothpaste?)
However, other water-based and non-permanent inks and paints such as regular ball-point pens and watercolors will both wash out as well as bleed unless sealed or fixed as you would with a pencil or ink drawing on conventional art paper.
Check the specifications of your chosen artistic media to determine if it is suitable to use.
Can drawings on a bag be erased?
Permanent inks and paints will be difficult to erase. If you are unsure of your first drawing, we recommend you draw your design a few times on regular paper to build your confidence, and then sketch lightly in pencil (which can be erased) before using permanent artistic media of your choice.
What other artistic media can be used on the products?
Probably more than we could easily list here. You can look at our Instagram feed to see how some very creative people around the world have experimented with different media on Schooled by Paper products.
Are Schooled by Paper markers safe for children?
Yes. Our permanent ink markers and acrylic paint markers are non-toxic and conform to all safety standards required for sales to the US, Australia, and New Zealand. Although not marketed specifically as children’s products, bags and markers have been third-party lab tested to meet applicable children’s product requirements, too.
Is the paper sourced ethically?
Yes. All paper used in Schooled by Paper products originates from sustainable forests certified by a globally recognized body. You can learn more about how forests and supply chains are ethically managed by going to www.fsc.org.
How much weight can Schooled by Paper bags carry?
Although we don’t have a specific number for you… more than you would want to carry. One of the uses for kraft paper is making bags for concrete mix.
Are the products recyclable or recycled?
Yes, the kraft-paper leather exterior is recyclable on all products. Much of the plastic hardware used is made from recycled plastic, and other materials like cotton straps, cotton interiors, and EVA mid-layer are biodegradable. The insulation of the LunchKraft lunchbox is metallized PET foil (PET MET) made from recycled water bottles.
